Introduction

BudgetWizard ("we," "us," or "our") operates the web application at budgetwizard.app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your data when you use our budget planner and expense tracker service.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Account information — your email address, provided when you create an account. You may optionally add a display name later.
• Financial data you enter — income, expenses, categories, budgets, and payment methods that you manually add or import via CSV. We do not connect to your bank or access your bank credentials.
• Usage data— device type, browser type, pages visited, and interaction patterns, collected through analytics services to help us improve the product (see "Third-Party Services" below).
• Payment information — subscription payments are processed by Polar (polar.sh), our third-party payment processor. We do not store your full credit card number on our servers.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the BudgetWizard service
• Process subscription payments through Polar
• Send service-related communications such as account confirmations, billing notices, and security alerts (sent via Resend, our email service provider)
• Analyze usage patterns to improve the product and fix issues

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

• Supabase — database hosting and authentication. Your account data and financial records are stored on Supabase infrastructure.
• Polar — payment processing for subscriptions. Polar receives your email address and manages billing.
• PostHog — product analytics. We track usage events (e.g., signups, feature usage) to improve the product. Your email and a user identifier may be associated with analytics events.
• Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights — performance monitoring. We collect page view and performance metrics to ensure the application runs well.
• Resend — transactional email delivery. Your email address is shared with Resend to send account-related emails.
• Cloudflare — security and performance. Request metadata is processed by Cloudflare for DDoS protection.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is encrypted in transit using TLS. Data at rest is protected by Supabase's infrastructure-level encryption. We enforce row-level security on all database tables so that users can only access their own data. BudgetWizard does not require or collect bank login credentials — all financial data is entered manually or imported via CSV files that you provide.

What We Don't Do

• We never sell your personal data or financial information.
• We never share your data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
• We do not connect to your bank accounts.
• We do not serve third-party display advertising.

Data Export and Deletion

If you wish to export your data or delete your account and all associated data, please contact us at [email protected]. Once your account is deleted, your data is permanently removed from our servers.

Data Retention

We retain your account and financial data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription, your data remains accessible until you request account deletion. After account deletion, your data is permanently removed from our systems. Analytics data may be retained in aggregated, anonymized form.

Cookies

BudgetWizard uses session cookies to keep you logged in and functional cookies to remember your preferences. We use analytics cookies from PostHog and Vercel to understand how the product is used.

Children's Privacy

BudgetWizard is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the application. Your continued use of BudgetWizard after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
